Come out and support 300 console cyclists in westmeath
Over 300 cyclists are set to make two stops in Westmeath on Saturday June 6 during a one-day cross country mission to highlight the fight against suicide.
The cyclists, including Fair City star George McMahon, better known as Mondo, are taking part in the Console East-West cycle from Celbridge to Galway.
On the day the cycle will be stop off in Kinnegad at around 8.30am and in Moate at 11.30am and locals are being invited to come along and support the Console cause.
The 200 kilometre trek aims to raise funds and awareness of the services provided by the national suicide prevention and bereavement charity, particularly Console’s 24/7 helpline 1800 247247.
Cheeky chappie Mondo plans to take the easy way out on this cycle marathon as the soap star, who has just started a new cycling business eBike, is using an electric bike.
“I know right well I’m kind of cheating and I’m prepared for the slagging I’ll get from the proper cyclists but it is for a good cause and I’m certainly not fit to cycle 200 km without a little help,” said George
