Break out the suncream summer has arrived
After some very nice weather in April, Ireland is beginning to get the summer feel with temperatures set to hit the high teens and even breaking into the loctal 20s in the coming days.
According to Met Eireann, today and tomorrow are expected to be the two best days so people should make the most of it. The west of the country is likely to fare best with onshore winds, keeping things a little cooler in the east.
Thankfully, the strong winds we had been experiencing in recent weeks have died away and forecasters say that light easterly winds will prevail.
Warm sunshine will be a feature of Thursday with the barometer touching 21 C in the west though some rain could develop later in the day.
As a low pressure system makes its way towards Ireland on Thursday evening and Friday, there will be a change with occasional, heavy falls of rain possible,
particular to the south and east of the country. Again, the west will fare best.
After a cooler and showery Saturday, things are set to improve on Sunday with a high pressure system lying just off the west coast, leading to improving temperatures once more.
It certainly seems that suncream, ice cream and flip flops will be the order of the day. Bring it on!
