Lilliput sports is one of best family days out

These days Lilliput on the shores of Lough Ennell is a well known destination for the sports enthusiast, with fishing, running, cycling and triathlon clubs all enjoying the lakeside venue.

Lilliput’s association with sport goes back to the 1920s, when the Gaelic League established a sports and feis day.

Lilliput sports continues to this day and is now established as one of the best family days out in the midlands.

The 2015 event is on Sunday June 21 and among the plans for the day are; tug-o-war, races for all children up to U14, novelty races for children and adults, family races and a one-mile perpetual race.

If you’re looking for some entertainment of a less athletic variety, McCormack Amusements will be supplying the rides, there will be live music followed by a talent competition on the stage, as well as a dog show, novelty games, boat rides, pony and trap rides, rural crafts and for refreshments, there will be a BBQ and ice-cream van!

Guest appearances on the day by the Celtic Blondes and All-Ireland Scór winner Michaela Hogg.
