Kilo of cocaine seized during search of car on the m6 at kilbeggan

A woman was arrested after drugs worth an estimated €70,000 were found when a car was stopped on the M6 at Kilbeggan today.

Gardai from Mullingar were on uniform patrol on the M6 when they stopped the car at around 2.30pm.

During a search they discovered one kilo of cocaine (subject to analysis) with a street value of approximately €70,000.

A 50 year-old woman, who was the driver and sole occupant of the car, was arrested and taken to Mullingar Garda station where she is being detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
