Heslin out of fermanagh game
Westmeath talisman John Heslin has been ruled out of Saturday week’s Qualifier clash against Fermanagh due to a heel injury.
The St Loman’s clubman, who has been one of the stars of this year’s Championship, has a “bad fracture” in his heel, according to manager Tom Cribbin, and “hasn’t a prayer of playing against Fermanagh”.
Heslin carried the injury into last Sunday’s Leinster Championship final against Dublin, a game in which he was substituted in the second half. A scan after the game revealed the extent of the injury.
"You could see early enough in the game that he was limping. He was very sore with it. But we had to give him a chance with it," Cribbin told the Irish Independent.
The Westmeath manager added that the injury affected Heslin’s shooting against the Dubs.
"John is normally a player who leaves the ball dead with his shots but you could see the discomfort," he said.
