Stunning footage of 1940s mullingar

A stunning piece of video from an army recruiting drive in Mullingar in 1942 has been gaining a lot of views online this week.

The video gives fantastic views of Mullingar town, and shows the army barracks, a hurling match and a march taking place up Dominick Street.

The soldiers proceed to march in to the Cathedral, and the footage shows them later march back up Dominick Street, towards The Green Bridge, passing, en route, "The Ennell View Hotel", which is now Coppola's.
