Canadian travels to mullingar for concert

There were fans of the late Joe Dolan from all over Ireland at Saturday night's "My Brother Joe" show at The Greville Arms on Saturday night.

Few, however, had travelled as far as Marian Vaughan, who came from Canada for the event.

Marian has nieces and nephews in this area - and they enticed her to come over by telling her of the Karen and The Dolans show in The Greville.

"I never saw Joe in real life - sadly," said Marian at Saturday's concert.

"But I had all his records, and I couldn't believe when I went to live in Canada, that he was played on the French radio station there.  He has a big fanbase in the French part of Canada."

Several fans at the Greville had travelled from Dublin, and there was a group of fans from Donegal - and even all the way from Kildorrery in Cork.

Also there was Valentine Shanley, originally from Mullingar, but long living in London, and his wife, Angela Burke, who also travelled back for the gig.

Valentine regularly met Joe while growing up in Mullingar.
