No bling please were from westmeath

Our reputation is in shreds: Westmeath may now be the meanest county in Ireland.

That’s when it comes to spending on wedding rings, according to Littlewoods.

The average amount spent on engagement rings in Ireland is €1,333.

The biggest spenders are in Cork, where there are more rings costing more than €3,500 sold than anywhere else.

We, however, tip the scale on the other end, spending an average of only €729.

Even Cavan men spend more, forking out an average of €899.

So: does that mean Westmeath women should marry Cork men?  Or if a Westmeath man is in Cork while buying the ring, will he spend more?
