One direction to split for a year

Hundreds of thousands of fans across the world are bemoaning the news this morning that One Direction are to split for a year... at least!

The band which have been going for five years are reported to be taking a break in March so that Niall, Liam, Harry and Louis, can focus on solo projects.

Worries about the band's future escalated when the band's former fifth member, Zayn Malik, left One Direction in March.

They will not form a tour on the back of their fifth album, meaning their last concert for the foreseeable future will take place in Sheffield this October.

So far, none of the members have made any statement regarding the year's break.
