Lotto magic in the midlands couple collect euro2968171
It was a Magic Monday for a midlands couple as they visited National Lottery offices in Dublin this afternoon to collect their €2,968,171 Lotto jackpot from last Wednesday’s draw.
They purchased their winning €20 normal play multi-draw ticket on September 24 in SuperValu on Main Street in Ballymahon.
The happy couple, who wish to remain private, discovered their win last Thursday, when a relative mentioned that the winning ticket had been sold in Ballymahon.
The lucky husband said: “A relative mentioned that someone locally had won the Lotto jackpot so I rang my wife to ask her to double-check our ticket. She went online and rang me back immediately with the news. I couldn’t believe it. I had to race home to check it for myself!”
The wife added: “We’ve been playing the Lotto religiously ever since it began – the same numbers twice a week, every week. It becomes part of your routine but you never expect to actually win anything major!”
The couple, who are still reeling from their win, have shared their exciting news with their family and are looking forward to celebrating together this weekend. Celebrations aside, they plan to take a few days away to properly digest the news and think about how to use their winnings.
“We are so excited and completely overwhelmed by this life-changing win. It’s wonderful to be able to become financially comfortable and put some money aside for our children’s education.”
“We’re just thrilled. This has come at the perfect time – we’re old enough to be sensible but still young enough to enjoy it!”
Wednesday’s Lotto jackpot is an estimated €2.5 million. Play in any agent store or online at Lottery.ie up to 7.45pm and be in with a chance to win or share in this life-changing jackpot.
There were two lucky winners who shared the Match 5 plus Bonus prize of €32,392 each in Saturday night’s Lotto Draw. While a very lucky player(s) in Offaly won the biggest ever Match 5 plus Bonus prize of €287,135 in last Wednesday’s Lotto draw. The player(s) has yet to claim their prize.
