Car bursts into flames on austin friars street
The main thoroughfare of Mullingar was brought to a brief standstill at lunchtime today (Tuesday), when a car went on fire on Austin Friars Street.
Gardaí and one tender from Mullingar Fire Station were in attendance. The area was sealed off, and the blaze was brought under control shortly after 2pm.
It is understood that the people carrier car was unoccupied when it went on fire, and there were no injuries. Gardaí are investigating.
Town traffic bound for the Delvin and Dublin Roads was temporarily redirected via Nugent's Corner.
