Callout for participants in katie nugent duathlon
The organisers of the Katie Nugent Duathlon at Ballinlough Castle on Sunday October 18 have thanked those who have signed up already and put out a call for more participants.
“We want this to be a fantastic event for the Katie Nugent Fund,” said a committee spokesperson.
“Please encourage anybody else to get involved in a fun event which raises money for a great cause by telling anyone you feel might like to take part!
“Thank you also to the people who cannot make it on the day but have made a donation to the fund – it is much appreciated.”
The Katie Nugent Duathlon is a fun event for all the family as there are races for kids and face painting, and the more supporters present to cheer on the participants, the better.
Visitors are being encouraged to bring picnics as there is plenty of space to enjoy them.

Katie Nugent Fund Facts
The Katie Nugent Fund was established in 2011 to improve psychological and emotional support for patients and families at St John’s Ward at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin (OLCHC), where every child in Ireland with cancer and leukaemia is treated.
To date the fund has raised some €700,000 and, having completed a garden, is currently supporting an analysis to identify parents’ needs over a 12-month period as they progress through their child’s treatment, and the degree to which the identified needs are met by the current service, to be co-ordinated at the hospital with Trinity College, Dublin.
