Ballynacargy latest garda treating death as murder
Gardaí have upgraded their investigation into the death last night of a 43 year old Ballynacargy woman to that of murder.
The woman has been named locally as Brigid Maguire, who is mother of a son and a daughter.
Ms Maguire’s body was found at her home on Ballynacargy’s Main Street at 9.30 pm last night, and a post mortem was today conducted at The Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore by Acting Deputy State Pathologist Dr Linda Mulligan.
Dáil deputy, Robert Troy, who knew the deceased woman well, had spoken to her just the previous day. He said her death had caused shockwaves throughout the community.
“She was an honest, decent hard-working woman, who worshipped her kids. She was a good mother and worked hard to provide for her children, and it is a tragic loss of life at such a young age,” he said.
