Death of Cecil Ross announced

The death has been announced of the noted Westmeath horse trainer, Cecil Ross, of Slanemore.

Mr Ross, who is survived by his wife, Carol, died yesterday, Monday, peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital.

A man held in the highest esteem, he enjoyed great professional success, and was respected as a man of ability and a man of honour.

He was brother of Alan Ross, Miriam Galvin, and the late Olive McCann, who also died recently.

Mr Ross’s passing is regretted by his wife, siblings, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many good friends.

The remains will repose tomorrow, Wednesday, at Gilsenan’s funeral home from 4pm to 7pm, and on Thursday at 11 am, the funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Michael’s Church, Sonna, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
