Opening night of MCC performance of 'Joseph'
Martha Sheridan
Last night Mullingar Community college had their opening performance of the schools first musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, in Mullingar Arts Centre last night.
The musical was preformed by both students from the secondary school and students from the PLC courses along with some of the teachers.
Students from the school’s PLC beauty course provided the make-up and the Mullingar Town Band, conducted by music teacher Patrica Magee, provided the music.
With an excellent set and wonderful costumes the cast dazzle with their enthusiasm and energy.
Collette Dunning, the deputy principal, said that the reason they chose Joseph was that "t involves both adults and children".
"It is also recognisable and a lot of people would know the songs."
When asked why they decided to have their first musical now Ms Dunning said that: "It was just the right time, we also got a new staff member, Patricia Magee who had worked on productions like this before."
The cast is a mixture of members who have worked on stage before and those for whom it is their first time on stage but all act very professionally with a good amount of humour thrown in making the show wonderfully entertaining.
The show continues tonight January 14 and tomorrow January 15.
