Burke to take part in Eoghan McDermott election special

Childcare, paternity leave, education, family life.

They're all issues very much to the fore of the mind of Cllr Peter  Burke, who, with wife Olivia, two months ago welcomed son Leo into the world.

These, and other issues of interest to voters in their 20s and 30s, are expected to be among the issues discussed in a 2FM seven-way political debate hosted by Eoghan McDermott tomorrow evening, Thursday.

Representing Fine Gael in the discussion will be Cllr Burke, who is currently running as a candidate for Fine Gael in the general election.

"There are huge pressures out there on families," said Cllr Burke, adding that the recent cut in the USC had been a significant help to families, and the introduction of free GP care for U13s was a priority.

"The two weeks paternity leave that comes in later this year is a big improvement, and there is now also an extra free preschool year," said Cllr Burke.

The panelists will be answering questions that come in to the show via Facebook and Twitter.
