Whelehans Pharmacy:Sugar and fat information evening
Sugar..... you’re sweet enough, right?
Launching “Sugar and Fat” Information Evening, Mullingar 7th March
Staying healthy these days is hard work........ for both those who are pro active about keeping fit or those who don’t exercise that much, eating healthily, through a balanced diet, can be a complete minefield.
If you are a parent, the challenge......and yes, it is a huge challenge, in keeping your children healthy, ensuring they eat and drink the right things, especially when you’re not around, can be a daunting experience.
Historically, we have looked at fat in foods as the enemy..... however, with Ireland now in the unenviable position of having the fattest people AND the fattest chidren in Europe (according to World Health Organisation) with 25% of our 12 year olds overweight or obese, it is time to examine the massive role which SUGAR plays in contributing to this alarming state.
To give you an example of the “iceberg effect” of the underlying dangers of sugar, consider this. You might say “I eat healthily....I look for low fat products, I select “healthy options” etc......” However, even a “healthy diet” day could contain up to 21 spoonfuls of sugar.... three times the recommended daily amount. What chance have you got?
To change, you want to be able to take the appropriate action....but what is that? With so many different perspectives from so many sources how do you decide which is best? How do you know which changes you make, be it lifestyle, dietary or a combination of the two, will be the most effective....
The key is education. Having the right information, supplied by experts who work with the health, mental and medical fallout from over consumption of fats and sugar. will enable you to make the right choices for you and your children
Recognising this, Whelehans Pharmacy are hosting a
“Sugar and Fat” information evening, Greville Arms Hotel at 7pm on 7th March 2016.
