Mullingar Town Band and Midland Youth Orchestra host 1916-2016 commemorative concert
Mullingar Town Band and Midland Youth Orchestra host a 1916-2016 commemorative concert on Thursday April 7 in the Mullingar Park Hotel, when they will be playing with a visiting American band, the Morris Knolls Wind ensemble.
The Morris Knolls Wind ensemble is directed by Daniel Schwartz. The members are students who have dedicated their time to rehearsing and performing above and beyond the normal curricular requirements. In total there are 43 performers, and for the concert series in Ireland (March 31 to April 9), the Wind ensemble has prepared an entirely new programme.
The Morris Knolls instrumental Music department has been under the direction of Mr Schwartz since 2002, since when the band program has achieved much acclaim. The ensembles that have been under the direction of Mr Schwartz include the MK Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pit Orchestra, Freshman Concert Band, Advanced Concert Band and Wind ensemble.
In the last 14 years the marching band has won four state championships, eight national championships and three grand national championships. More than 100 young musicians will play together in a family friendly event on April 7, and tickets are only €5.
