Better weather coming next week
Some headlines have been predicting very high temperatures for next week.
We can’t say for sure, but Cathal Nolan of the Midland Weather Channel on Facebook knows.
He says that while the weekend will be mixed across, there will be more settled conditions at the start of next week.
Tomorrow, Saturday, will begin dry and bright across the eastern half of the midlands with some decent sunny spells.
Further west showers will begin to spread in from the Atlantic, and many will turn heavy with a risk of scattered thunderstorms by the afternoon.
There will be highs of 16-17 degrees Celsius, warmest in the east.
Sunday, will be a much more settled day across the midlands with fewer showers and more sunny spells.
Temperatures across the midlands will be 15-17 Celsius.
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday an area of high pressure is expected to develop in the general vicinity of the Faroe Islands, between Iceland and Scotland.
This will keep the typical Atlantic weather systems to the south, while steering in an easterly airflow across Ireland.
The weather will become mainly dry and bright, Cathal predicts.
The warmest of the temperatures will be found across the western half of the midlands and will range between 16-18 degrees Celsius.
Further east the onshore winds will keep temperatures that little bit cooler coming in at around 15-16 degrees Celsius typically.
