Gardaí to host stolen property day at Mullingar station
If you have you had property stolen or lost, you will be interested in an event at Mullingar Garda Station later this month.
In an effort to reunite stolen and recovered property with owners across the country, An Garda Síochána will hold their national property recovered day on Thursday September 22, and gardaí in the Westmeath Division hold their 'Divisional Property Recovered Day' in Mullingar Garda Station from 10am to 1pm.
Members of the public are invited to Mullingar Garda Station to view items of property from across the Westmeath Division and the Eastern Region.
Should any member of the public not be in a position to attend Mullingar Garda Station on September 22, catalogues of the property will also be available to view at garda.ie clicking on the 'Blue and Pink Discs’ to access Flickr, select ‘Albums’ and the Westmeath Division catalogue.
Those who have had property stolen or lost can view property recovered from all areas around the country which will be available to view on a Division by Division basis through the Garda Flickr albums. Sgt John Connolly, Crime Prevention Officer for Westmeath, said that on September 22 the Conference Room in Mullingar Garda Station is the place to be if you have property missing.
“We will have coloured catalogues of property in our possession as well as our neighbouring Garda Divisions," he said.
“This property may well have been stolen in other counties so I would ask people to view it. I would also encourage the public to look at garda.ie in the days leading up to September 22 - you will find property which is in the possession of various garda stations countrywide on the website.
“In relation to Westmeath, we would hope to unite items of jewellery, bicycles, and power tools with owners.
“We will also have our community Policing Unit, Victim Support Garda and a Crime Prevention Stand with literature present for the public. We look forward to seeing the public viewing the property catalogues between 10am and 1pm in Mullingar Garda Station on September 22."
If any member of the public has any information on any item of property on this site or information on stolen or lost property they can contact their local Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
