Drugs seizure worth €42,000 made near Mullingar

Two people are currently in custody at Mullingar Garda Station following seizure of cannabis herb with an estimated value of €42,000 yesterday evening.

The seizure was made by Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit, Mullingar following the search of a car that they had stopped on the N52 at Cloghan at around 5 pm yesterday (Tuesday).

The car was stopped as part of an operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Westmeath area.

A man, 21 years and a female juvenile were arrested at scene and are currently detained at Mullingar Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 as amended.

Gardaí also seized an amount of cash that was located in the car during the search.
