Mullingar girl selected as DCU ambassador
Carmel Kenny from Mullingar has been selected for the position of student ambassador for DCU.
She will form part of a 39-person student ambassador team working at DCU over the course of the academic year.
Student ambassadors are hired by the university to give prospective students an insight into life at DCU and combine their academic studies with their role as student ambassador at numerous DCU events, on and off campus.
Carmel, a former St Joseph’s pupil, is studying Communications and is also involved in society life through the Media Production Society.
Speaking about her position, Carmel said:
"I can’t wait to start my role as student ambassador. My first year in DCU was amazing and being a student ambassador gives me the opportunity to share my positive experiences with prospective students.
When I attended the Open Days, it was the students who gave me the real insight into life at DCU. Now I get the chance to share my passion and insights about life in DCU!"
Lauren Quinn Taylor, Student Recruitment Office, at DCU said a number of current DCU students every year and are essentially brand ambassadors for the university.
"The student ambassadors are in a position to give a real insight into life on campus and can talk from experience on academic life, social life, accommodation, supports services and so on.
"The student ambassadors play a hugely valuable role in the promotion of DCU and are a great support and resource for the student recruitment team.”
