Cyclist killed in collision with car
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Mullingar, yesterday.
The collision occurred at approximately 3.45pm between a car and a cyclist.
The cyclist, a man in his 70s was fatally injured in the incident which occurred on the N52, four miles north of Mullingar heading towards Kells.
The man in his 70s was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body of the deceased was removed to Midlands Regional Hospital with a post mortem examination expected to take place today at Tullamore hospital.
The driver of the car, a female in her 70s, was uninjured.
The scene of the collision is being examined by Garda forensic collision investigators and the road will remain closed overnight.
