Death of Countess Mountcharles

The death occurred peacefully on Sunday of Eileen Wren Mountcharles, Galtrim House, Dunsany, matriarch of the Slane Castle family.

In her 93rd year, she died peacefully at Knightsbridge Nursing Home, Trim. 

Her father, Captain Newsam, was founder of the Navan Carpets company.

Countess Mountcharles was very involved in farming activities at Galtrim, and was a member of the Irish Farmers Association.

Mother of Henry, Simon and Patrick, she was also a much loved grandmother and great-grandmother.

A Funeral Service takes place in St Patrick’s Cathedral, St Loman's Street, Trim, on Saturday 26th November, at 11am, followed by burial at Galtrim Graveyard.
