Gardaí warn motorists not to leave cars running when defrosting windows

Gardaí in Mullingar have issued a warning to motorists not to leave unattended cars running as they attempt to defrost them in the cold weather.

According to a spokesperson, an increase in the number of vehicle thefts has been reported in other garda divisions since the onset of the cold.

In Westmeath, there were several thefts last year and at least one vehicle, stolen from the Rathowen area, was not recovered.
