Sports Partnership to deliver coaching programme
A twelve week comprehensive coaching programme for people interested in working with sports organisations in the midlands is being rolled out in Westmeath and Longford later this month.
Supported by Sport Ireland, the programme aims to provide an opportunity for candidates, male and female, to gain experience in a variety of sporting activities, with the aim of developing specialised coaching skills.
Among activities which will be featured on the course will be kayaking and canoeing along with a range of other outdoor activities and successful candidates will be able to avail of job placement experience over the course of the twelve weeks.
The programme will be delivered in two venues, in Mullingar and in Ballymahon and is set to commence on Monday, March 20. Delivered through a number of strands, including sports coaching training, physical activity training, personal development and job readiness skills development, the programme is open to applicants aged 18 and over, who are unemployed and who have an interest in sport.
The programme aims to assist the participants with both theoretical and practical skills in the hope of gaining employment in outdoor recreation.
The task of delivering the programme has been placed in the capable hands of Mullingar based, Sarah McManus, who is very well known in Westmeath sporting circles.

As stated the course will commence on Monday next, March 20 and will delivered over four days each week, Monday to Thursday from 10am to 1pm.
