Westmeath on telly tonight
Lesser Spotted Journeys, today at 8pm on UTV, features Fore in north Westmeath.
In the programme, Joe Mahon explores the ruins of the Benedictine abbey at Fore, including a 15th-century guard tower that was home to a hermit and a 19th-century mausoleum once raided by graverobbers.
He also learns about the ancient crafts of making dog whistles out of antlers and romantic art from stone.
Joining Joe are Bartle D’Arcy, Liam Leahy and Fergus Corrigan to hear all about this wonderful valley and the people that live there.
