Rochfortbridge students' art show

A number of aspiring young artists from St Joseph’s Secondary School, Rochfortbridge, are to hold an exhibition in the Atrium Gallery, County Buildings, Mullingar this week.

Showcasing the talents of students from both junior and senior cycles, and organised by art teachers Niamh Sweeney and Jen Gallagher, it will be officially opened today Tuesday September 5 at 5.30pm and runs until Friday September 15.

The staff, students and parents from St Joseph’s would like to invite everyone to the opening, or to call in to The Atrium during council opening hours to view the exhibition.

“It is fantastic for the young artists to get the opportunity to hold an exhibition in such a lovely, accessible public space,” said Niamh.

“For many, this is the first time they will have had their work displayed outside a school setting.”

Jen added: “Artists, particularly young ones, can be critical of their own work.

“Hopefully this will give some of these talented artists more faith in their own ability, especially when they receive compliments and positive comments from members of the public as they surely will.”
