Coole windfarm decision put back for two months

The people of north Westmeath will have to wait at least another two months to find out whether an industrial windfarm will be developed in Coole.

An Bord Pleanála had been due to make a decision yesterday, Monday May 21, on Element Power’s plans to construct 13 wind turbines in the Coole area.

However, a spokesperson told the Westmeath Examiner that it will be “at least two months” before the outcome is finalised.

On December 12, Westmeath County Council refused planning permission for the multi-million euro project on the grounds that all but two of the 175m turbines would have been too close to residential dwellings contrary to set back distances in the county development plan.
Element Power lodged an appeal with An Bord Pleanála on January 16.
