Purple Raven Art's Summer celebration
Purple Raven Art host their traditional Summer Celebration event on Saturday August 18 at 7.30pm with a new exhibition by Hazel Revington-Cross.
This has become one of the highlights at the gallery over the last few years to gather with neighbours and friends and bring music, poetry, craftwork and art together all under one roof.
The evening will start with musician Ronan Leonard from Delvin preforming some of the songs on his recently re-released album ‘Roomful of dreamers’ – which has some of Hazel’s art on the cover. He will also perform some of the tracks from his new album due to be released soon.
Actress Mary McEvoy will officially open the exhibition with a poetry reading she has composed.
The exhibition, entitled ‘Into the woods I go’, was inspired by Hazel’s deep love of nature and the tranquillity she feels when surrounded by trees and in particular in this collection of art, her love of the birch tree also known as ‘the lady of the woods’.
“The white bark of the birch tree stands out even on the dullest of winter days,” she said.
“It reminds me of the light inside people that can shine so brightly even through their darkest hours of struggle as they face life’s challenges with dignity and grace. These people are a constant inspiration to others.”
Eddie Byrne and Stu Wells of ES Glass in Delvin will be demonstrating how they make their fused glass and they hope to give people a taste of what to expect if they attend one of their regularly held workshops. They invite people to participate on the evening.
Several of the gallery artists will have new work on exhibition on the night, including Jonathan Von Baumann, Fiona Seoige and Noeleen Egan.
The ‘Many Mores’ return with a music session and will be joined by Andy Lawlor from Delvin’s coffee boutique to provide entertainment into the evening.
Purple Raven art extends an invitation to come and join them between 7pm and 10pm for an evening that is always filled with laughter.
