Mullingar Harriers to host Fit4Life classes
Fit4Life classes are to commence at Mullingar Harriers before the end of this month.
Fit4Life is an Athletics Ireland programme for all runners whether you are a complete beginner or a regular jogger/runner. The programme will help you to achieve improved levels of fitness and wellness within the club structure in a fun, sociable environment.
For someone starting an exercise programme for the first time or just getting back into exercise after a long break it can be a difficult and daunting experience. How much should I do? How far should I run? What pace should I run at? What rest should I have between runs? These are all questions that are common, so if you have asked yourself any of them, don’t worry – you’re not alone!
The good thing about starting out on a beginner's programme is that the terms ‘walk’ and 'rest’ are used quite a lot!
Why Join a Fit4Life Club?
Fit4Life is for all abilities. Participants are grouped by ability for training sessions allowing runners/walkers to train at an appropriate level. There is progression from walking to jogging to running and no previous experience is needed.
Group training
Let’s face it: it’s not easy to lead a healthy life and exercise. Knowing that there are others meeting to train makes it that bit harder to find an excuse not to go, and it will motivate you to pull on your gear and get going.
Having someone running right beside you will keep you moving and can push you a little harder than you might do on your own. Research also shows that people who train in a group are more likely stick with it.
The new Fit4Life programme begins at 7pm on Monday September 24 at the Mullingar Harriers club grounds in Grange, and runs for 12 weeks at a cost of €40 per person.
Those attending are advised to wear weather and sport appropriate clothing. See mullingarharriers.com or email info@mullingarharriers.com for further details.
