TV company making film at Mullingar CU looking for locals to take part
Alleycats TV, a production company based in Derry, will be in Mullingar this week to start work on a series on credit unions, and specifically the people who borrow from them.
Niamh Minihan, one of the producers, said: “This will be an uplifting and insightful series, exploring the relationship between credit unions and the people of Ireland. Our first location is Mullingar Credit Union, and the crew will be in town casting this week. Filming will be next week.”
The programme is to be broadcast on RTÉ One next year, and Mullingar CU is one of four locations where cameras will have access to the offices, the staff, and – hopefully – the customers.
“Alleycats is keen to uncover the reasons behind people’s loans. Whether it’s €50 or €500,000, there’s always a great story to tell,” said Ms Minihan.
“As well as the funny and everyday reasons people want loans, we are keen to highlight social issues and personal causes that are close to people’s hearts – stories that will have an emotional impact and potentially help people in similar circumstances.
“So if your loan application is of a sensitive nature we’d be keen to chat with you about how we could reflect that to raise awareness – there is no obligation to take part. If you haven’t yet received a decision on your loan, we’d be delighted to hear from you.”
Alleycats TV producers will be in Mullingar from Wednesday October 31 to Saturday November 3 for casting, and from Tuesday November 6 to Friday November 9 for filming at the credit union.
The team will be based at the credit union, and will be out and about in Mullingar to meet people.
