IMRO host ‘Bagatelle @ 40' - celebrating four decades of original music
IMRO have hosted a special evening of live music and chat with Iconic Irish band Bagatelle to celebrate their phenomenal 40 years on the road.
On the night the band were presented with special IMRO awards in recognition of their contribution to original Irish music.
Bagatelle began their career in 1978 and since then have remained popular on the Irish music circuit worldwide.
Over the course of their 40 years, they’ve had several number one hit singles with what would become iconic songs like Summer In Dublin, Second Violin and Trump Card.
With Platinum and Gold status album sales, plus classic emigration songs like Streets Of New York, Flight of Earls, Bainbridge Avenue and Boston Rose, all written by lead singer, Liam Reilly, Bagatelle have remained a firm favourite.
Over the four decades, the band have shared stages and performed with intenational legends such as Bob Marley, John Denver, The Pogues, Duran Duran, The Pretenders, Van Morrison, U2, UB40, George Michael, and Jose Feliciano.
Two years ago Bagatelle completed their ‘Final Year Tour’ and retired after that (for about three months).
Apparently missing the touring, the band then played a major series of ‘One For The Road’ sold out gigs.
