Fr Casey celebrates 65th anniversary of his ordination

Fr Paddy Casey marked a major milestone in his life with a Covid-19 restricted celebration on May 1 last.

Fr Casey was born in Walshestown in July 1930, and following secondary school in St Finian’s College, he went on to Maynooth Seminary College to study for the priesthood.

He was ordained on May 1, 1955 in the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar.

Fr Paddy served as CC in Birmingham, UK, Tampa, Florida, Drumraney, Castletown Kilpatrick, Dunderry, County Meath, and Kinnegad parishes. He later served as PP in Carnaross, up to his retirement in 2008.

Since then, Fr Paddy has lived in his home parish of Mullingar, where he assisted the local clergy, regularly saying 10am Mass in the Cathedral and also saying Sunday Mass in Newbrook Nursing home, where he currently resides.

Fr Paddy celebrated the occasion of the 65th anniversary of his ordination in Newbrook Lodge on May 1 last.
