Burke eager to hit the ground running.

Peter Burke says that he is looking forward to getting his teeth into his new role as the Minister of State for Planning and Local Government.

In a statement released today, Deputy Burke said that he is “delighted” with his new appointment.

“I owe a debt of gratitude to my wife, my family and to all of those who have supported me over the last number of years.

“I do not take this role for granted and I am committed to work to the very best of my ability on behalf of the people of Longford Westmeath and the country. Work starts today,” he said.

Deputy Peter Burke and fellow Westmeath TD Robert Troy of Fianna Fail were appointed ministers of state last evening. Deputy Troy was named Minister of State for Trade Promotion and will work alongside the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment  Leo Varadkar and Meath West TD Damien English, Minister of State for Employment Affairs and Retail Businesses.
