A local family are taking the brave step of expanding their business and have opened a new office in Mullingar.

McDonnell Solicitors, who have an established practice in Longford, are run by a Nicola and Thomas McDonnell from Ballynacargy.

Their new office is on Pearse Street, and the opening comes at a difficult time for the economy, considering the Covid-19 restrictions.

Nicola McDonnell, partner of McDonnell Solicitors, said: “We’re delighted to have opened an office in Mullingar. It was always our ambition to open in our hometown as we believe Mullingar has huge potential as a thriving midlands town.

“Our firm, which provides a full range of legal services including conveyancing (residential and commercial property), litigation and personal injuries, wills and probate, employment law, family law and district court, has been in operation since 2013 and has grown substantially over recent years.

“Tom and I have been practising for more than 20 years in the midlands, during which time we have built up a strong network of contacts and wealth of experience in all areas of legal practice.

“We are supported in the Mullingar office by Niamh Ginnell, who has 14 years’ experience. After initially working as a barrister, she moved in-house as a legal advisor for the education and charity sectors.

“Niamh joined our team in May 2020. We are delighted to have Niamh as part of the team and excited about the firm’s expansion.”

“We were certainly nervous about pursuing the investment during Covid-19; however, we are thrilled we did as it has been extremely busy since we opened our doors.

“The streets are bustling and consumers are spending. Property prices have also held up, all indicating that Mullingar is weathering the storm so far.

“We are really looking forward to getting involved in the local community in Mullingar and want to thank everyone who has wished us well since we opened.”
