Request to tidy unsightly road

A request that the Municipal District of Athlone-Moate tidy up an unsightly derelict section on the Mullingar Road at Kilbeggan was made at the Municipal District’s most recent meeting by Cllr Liam McDaniel.

The official written response stated that the site in question is in private ownership but that the district office will follow up with the owners to have it rendered non-derelict.

At the same meeting, Cllr McDaniel asked for an update on the effect of the driver alert feedback signs located in Castletown Geoghegan.

He was informed that the district engineer will arrange for the transportation section to carry out a speed survey at that location and compare the results with the previous surveys which were carried out.

“A report with the findings will then be circulated to the members,” Cllr McDaniel was assured.
