Rochfortbridge couple mark diamond jubilee
Agnes and Stephen Mooney, who celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary today Monday September 28, were married in Rochfortbridge Church.
Agnes was born in Milltownpass and was a Moran. Stephen was born in Kilbeggan and at the age of five moved to Drumcree, Collinstown.
After getting married they lived in Drumcree and then went to Dublin, where Stephen trained to be a postman.
In 1962 they moved to Rochfortbridge as Stephen got a permanent position as a postman for the Rochfortbridge and Tyrrellspass areas.
Stephen retired on September 23, 1998.
They have lived in Rochfortbridge for the last 58 years.
Agnes and Stephen have three sons and two daughters – Gerry, Caroline, Dermot, Mary and Fergal – and seven grandchildren.
The family were unable to organise a party due to Covid-19 restrictions, but they enjoyed a nice in Bloomfield House Hotel to celebrate the anniversary.
They hope to be able to organise a party with friends in the future.
