Juniors’ U13 girls hit Ballinahown for four

Kinnegad Juniors4

Ballinahown0

Last weekend, Kinnegad's Under 13 girls played their first home game of the new season against a strong side. Both teams played some great football in the first half but Kinnegad’s girls had most of the possession.

Ballinahown’s defence were strong and blocked everything Kinnegad threw at them in the first half and the half time break came with the sides level. At the break Kinnegad changed things around and it paid off within 10 minutes and the home team scored to go up 1-0.

Kinnegad went on from there to win 4-0 with goals from Aoibhinn (2), Molly (1) and Fran (1). Kinnegad's player of the match was Molly Dignam, for her fantastic performance.

Templevilla2

Kinnegad Juniors4

The first league game of the new season for Kinnegad and a tough trip to Templevilla. It proved to be an entertaining game between two good teams. Although the home side had the better of the opening 20 minutes, Kinnegad grew into the game and came out worthy winners.

Kinnegad’s defence held strong throughout the first half, Adam Mitchell Lee and skipper Eoin Kildea were excellent. On 25 minutes, Dylan Birch slipped a beautiful through ball in for Evan Holbrook, who finished well into the bottom corner to give his side a half time lead.

Kinnegad got caught out in the first minute of the second half and Templevilla equalized. Kinnegad were dangerous on both wings with Andrew Amentorge looking confident and the now flying Evan Holbrook got his second with a great run and finish in off the defender.

Andrew and Evan soon combined again with a short corner catching Templevilla cold, and Evan grabbed his hat trick in stunning style with a fierce shot into the top corner to put Kinnegad 3-1 up! Both sides were giving their all at this stage but an unlucky mistake from Kinnegad's goalkeeper Oscar Carpenter gave Templevilla a lifeline at 3-2! Oscar, in goal had a fantastic goalkeeping debut otherwise and more than once pulled off fantastic saves when needed.

With minutes left Adam Mitchell Lee sent a free kick into the Templevilla box for Andrew to finish nicely with his head to seal an excellent away win for his team. A joint Man of the match award goes to hat trick hero Evan Holbrook and centre back Adam Mitchell Lee. Both outstanding.

Kinnegad Tigers4

A perfect day for football last Saturday for the Tigers' first away match of the season. The Tigers started a little cold and unfortunately lost a couple of early goals.

The Kinnegad lads struggled through the first half and only showed glimpses of the football they are capable of. At half time they were 5-1 down.

It was like a different team in the second half, Kinnegad were pushing from the start and created loads of great chances. Evan H scored a hat trick and Cillian O’H scored a screamer from outside the area. The Tigers had to deal with a few counter attacks but Sachin G, on loan for the day from the club's U12s, was standing in goal and had a few brilliant saves. Due to some lads not being available today Kinnegad also had Ben C from the U12s doing tremendous work in our midfield. Such were the quality of the two lads performances, rumours are circling Kinnegad that transfer negotiations are underway!

The final score was 7-4; Kinnegad were definitely on top in the latter stages and would have loved another 5 or 10 minutes to claw a few more goals back.

MGL Under 10

Kinnegad Juniors v Greystones Utd

On a beautiful sunny day down in Lagan Park the Kinnegad girls played their first home match against a strong Greystones side. That didn’t matter to the girls, as they battled all through the game and were just a little unlucky in front of goal at times.

Zoë Burbridge again scored two goals to the delight of the home crowd who cheered on the girls from the first to the final whistle and all the girls really enjoyed themselves.

Our Player of the Match this week is Orla Pelly, who had an excellent game.
