Third time lucky for Aisling and Michael

Nothing was going to put a damper on Mullingar couple Aisling Mortell and Michael Beglan's recent wedding.
The couple were originally due to tie the knot in the Cathedral of Christ the King on April 16 followed by a reception in the Annebrook House Hotel, but were forced to reschedule their big day for May 28. However, as the crisis escalated and lockdown was extended, they were forced to changed the date once more, this time to September 24.
After the disappointment of two postponements, Aisling finally got to walk down the aisle in late September in front of 30 of her and Michael's closest family and friends. Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, Aisling said that it really was a case of third time lucky.
“We had terrible weather. It lashed rain all morning and the wind would cut you, but it was the best day ever and well worth the wait.”
In a true sign of the times, the couple presented each of their 30 guests with a mask and a bottle of sanitiser. By her own admission a "big hugger", Aisling says that she couldn't have let the day pass without getting a few embraces from loved ones, but stressed that they wore masks and sanitised after each one.
It may not have been the wedding day that she originally planned, but Aisling says the ups and downs of the last few months made it even more special. She also praised the Annebrook House's staff for their help over the last six months.
“It was brilliant. Everything went perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better day in the end”
