Christian leaders unite in ‘Prayer Promise’

Leaders from the five Christian faiths in Mullingar are offering to pray daily during November for requests submitted to them.

For 10 years, the leaders of the Roman Catholic, Church of Ireland, the Presbyterian Church, the Mullingar Christian Fellowship and Youth for Christ have worked together as a group in ‘Christian Voices Together’.

For November, they are holding a ‘Prayer Promise’ and anyone who would like prayers offered for a request can contact them via CVTPrayerPromise@gmail.com.

“The Lord is near to us and we offer our sincere support to everyone at this challenging time,” is the message from the churches.

Currently, despite the pandemic, there are some 200 young people undertaking the Christian Alpha Course in the town, led by Youth for Christ.

The churches were hoping to launch a special five-week Prayer Initiative which has had to be postponed due to the recent restrictions. It is in the light of this that they have decided to organise the Prayer Promise project.

“We invite everyone to send their prayer request to the email address and all the leaders will happily offer all the prayer requests to God each day,” a spokesperson said.

“Despite the current difficulties we all face, Christians are confident in knowing that God is near to us at this time, our present adversity will pass and we can look forward with both hope and confidence.
