Kilbeggan set to host ten race meetings in 2021
Although the sporting world remains in a state of flux at present due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Kilbeggan Racecourse hopes to be able to run ten race meetings in 2021.
Horse Racing Ireland has granted a new race meeting to Kilbeggan on Thursday April 22 and this is the meeting which will kick off the 2021 season at Kilbeggan.
The flagship Midlands National race is due to take place on Friday July 9 and the season will conclude on September 3.
Paddy Dunican, the manager of Kilbeggan Racecourse, has warmly welcomed the additional meeting of April 22 which, combined with the previously planned fixture of April 23, creates a new two-day meeting. This two-day meeting in the spring is a new departure for Kilbeggan.
“Over the years Kilbeggan has grown from staging three race meetings annually to staging ten race meetings including a two-day meeting in 2021,” said Mr Dunican.
“We have in recent years invested a significant amount of money in developing and widening our race track and we now have built up a great reputation of being able to provide good safe ground, to give opportunities to national hunt horses to be able to race during the dry summer months.
“We are delighted that Horse Racing Ireland has chosen Kilbeggan Racecourse to grant the only additional national hunt race meeting in the 2021 fixture list,” he added.
The meetings scheduled to take place in Kilbeggan are listed below, and all involved in the racecourse and racing fans from across the midlands will be hoping that the programme will go ahead as planned.
