Head girl and head boy at Wilson’s Hospital School announced
Wilson’s Hospital School announced on Friday that head boy 2021 is Craig Gillespie and head girl 2021 is Esther Cowan.
Esther was born and raised in Cavan, and now lives in Castlepollard, and attended Castlepollard Parochial School. Over her six years in Wilson’s, she has developed a particular interest in the German language and the sciences, especially biology.
In her free time Esther enjoys photography, baking and playing the piano. In school Esther enjoys playing hockey as a member of the senior girls team.
Some of the highlights of Esther’s time in Wilson’s include taking part in the musical ‘Hairspray’ in Transition Year.
She said: “Throughout the year, while preparing for the show, I noticed our year growing closer, learning from each other’s strengths and weaknesses. By opening night, we felt like a family and it was heart-warming to show our families and teachers our efforts.”
After her Leaving Certificate, Esther hopes to study medicine.
Craig is from Crookedwood and also attended Castlepollard Parochial School. He enjoys maths and plans to study engineering after his Leaving Certificate.
Craig is a keen hockey player and is proud to be the youth representative on Mullingar Hockey Club Committee, for whom he plays on the first team. Craig is also a runner and has represented the school in orienteering. In his free time, Craig runs a glass engraving business and enjoys wood turning. He is currently working on a bog oak sculpture to be the Wilson’s perpetual orienteering trophy.
Craig and Esther were both valued members of the editorial team for the school magazine, The Wilsonian.
They were voted into their positions by the Senior Prefect Team and the teaching staff, who wish them well in their endeavours.
