Fight against litter continues
A reader took this photo recently opposite Lough Glore, near Fore, on the main road between Castlepollard and Oldcastle, “a very scenic route”.
“I counted more than 25 empty vegetable oil drums, obviously from a catering business where deep frying is used.
"Littering has gone up on all our roads during this pandemic but this type of commercial dumping is also on the rise.
"It’s hard to accept this behaviour in these times of heightened awareness of environmental impact and the proliferation of recycling depots in towns – which are mostly free to use.
"Businesses that condone this type of dumping should be exposed, fined and shamed.”
The dumping was reported to the council and it was expected to be cleared up on Monday morning.
