Mullingar man Peter Dunne scooped a Silver IMRO National Radio Award at the annual radio Oscars last Friday night.
Peter fronts the hugely popular show Feel Good Saturday on Midlands 103 from 11am-2pm where he took home the silver award for best short feature.
“Every week I go into our vaults and get older songs and show the listeners how they were sampled to make modern chart hits. There are so many examples and our listeners love the eureka moment when I reproduce the original and show listeners exactly how it was made into a hit," Peter said.
Peter beat off a number of stations to scoop the prize on behalf of Midlands 103 proving local radio can go toe to toe with the nationals.
“It’s a very tough category which adds to the achievement also and it’s an amazing feeling that with a bit of creativity, support and a passion for what you do, you can produce something that’s regarded as one of the best in the country."
The IMRO National Radio Awards received a total of 703 entries from radio stations all across the island of Ireland.
