16,000 chickens die in fire outside Blacklion
Fire crews from across Fermanagh responded.
Around 16,000 chickens have died after a major fire close to Blacklion.
The incident happened yesterday (Sunday) at a premises on the Marble Arch Road in Belcoo.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed it attended the scene after the alarm was raised at 7.26am.
Fire brigades from Belleek, Enniskillen and Irvinestown stations all responded.
The Marble Arch Road links Blacklion with the main Cavan to Enniskillen road.
The large shed fire caused what were described as “difficult conditions” for firefighters, who used breathing apparatus’ and water jets in an attempt to bring it under control.
The fire service confirmed it was brought under control by 4pm yesterday.
It says an investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing.
A PSNI Spokesperson has said Police are aware of the incident but it is not currently under investigation.Around 16,000 chickens have died after a major fire close to Blacklion.
