Dolan family look forward to getting back to Greville Arms
The Dolan family can’t wait to get back performing when they return with ‘Remembering Joe’ show in Mullingar next month, writes Sarah Slevin.
Joe Dolan’s family have been eagerly waiting for Covid-19 restrictions to allow their memoir show to go ahead.
Originally planned for numerous dates across the country in December and January, new dates have been pinned for the show.
‘Remembering Joe’ has now been set for the Greville Arms Hotel Mullingar on 11 February.
Joe Dolan’s brother Ben said it has been quite difficult to organise with all the setbacks with Covid-19 restrictions.
“This new bug of Covid keeps everything put back so nobody knows when anything is happening,” Ben said.
However, he said the gang are ready to go when it can go ahead, as they have been doing the show for a good while.
“We are doing the show around the country and wanted to do a date in Mullingar again as it has been a while since we were back home with it,” Ben added.
“I’m looking forward to getting back, even though maybe I should be retired. But I’m too old to retire now,” Ben joked.
Joe’s nephew Ray Dolan has said some of the band, have been doing some private rehearsals for it and he has also been itching to get back on stage.
Ray has been keeping his vocals exercised with his bus sessions, which has now been going on for over 650 days.
“We’re working behind the scenes, and what I’ve been doing myself in preparation for the live shows is singing on the bus for the past 653 days,” Ray said.
“I’ve been doing that on Facebook live every day to be ready for the live shows,” Ray added.
Ray’s bus sessions have been enjoyed by people across the world, with Ray noting regular audience members from the likes of Belgium, Canada and South Africa.
‘Remembering Joe’ will feature The Original Joe Dolan band, including Ben and Ray, alongside Adrian and Sandra Dolan and Karen Carroll, among other musicians.
Ray said people can expect the a “great show” and added they have all been looking forward to doing it for the last two years.
Tickets purchased for the original date in January remain valid, while more information on tickets can be got from Greville Arms reception on 044 934 8563
