End of 2023 target date for Kinnegad enterprise hub

“All going well” the new enterprise hub planned for Kinnegad should be completed by the end of 2023, members of Mullingar/Kinnegad Municipal District have been told.

The news was not welcomed by Cllr Denis Leonard, who raised the issue at the January meeting.

He pleaded that hundreds of workers are commuting to Dublin on crowded motorways and the enterprise hub is essential if they are to be able to work from the area and have access to broadband.

David Jones, director of services, said that approval had been sought to shift the project from the Eastwae Building to the Master’s House, adjacent to the new library, in Kinnegad. The original plan was to put it in the Eastwae Building but the portion of the building envisaged at application stage was no longer available.

For that reason, the council has sought to transfer the project to the Master’s House and they are awaiting approval for that. Mr Jones said that it was hoped that approval would be granted soon and “all going well, we are looking at the end of 2023”.
