Algar to star in new Disney+ series
Mullingar actor Niamh Algar has been cast as one of the lead roles in a new series on Disney +.
She will feature alongside a host of other well known names in the upcoming dark comedy, Culprits.
The eight part series, which has already started shooting, follows the aftermath of a heist, when the crew have gone their separate ways, but are being targeted by a killer one-by-one.
Multiple IFTA award winner Niamh plays the role of Psycho, while Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Generation, Candyman) will play the lead role of Joe. The cast also features Gemma Arterton (The King’s Man, Summerland) who plays Dianne, Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Cruella) who plays Officer, Kamel El Basha (The Insult) who plays Youssef, newcomer Tara Abboud who plays Azar, Kevin Vidal (Strays, Working Moms) who plays Jules, Ned Dennehy (The Peripheral, Good Omens) who plays Devil and Eddie Izzard (Victoria and Abdul, “Six Minutes to Midnight) who plays Vincent.
Cullprits is being made by Character 7, the independent production company best known for best known for the multiple award-winning BBC-AMC adaptation of John le Carré’s The Night Manager. The series garnered rave reviews and audience responses, receiving 12 Emmy nominations.
The series will be broadcast on the Star channel on the Disney+ platform.
Niamh tweeted earlier this week that she was “so excited to be finally able to share the news” about her casting in Culprits.
She will be back on our screens next month when the second series of the acclaimed science-fiction drama Raised by Wolves is broadcast on Sky. The new series of the show has already been positively received by critics and viewers alike in the US.
