Annebrook Hotel planning major expansion on site of the old Dunnes Stores
The Annebrook House Hotel is planning a major expansion.
The family run hotel, which celebrated 15 years in business this month, wants to add a further 50 bedrooms on the site of the old Dunne Stores premises on Austin Friars Street.
Speaking on on Taking Care Of Business on Midlands 103, the hotel's owner Berty Dunne outlined his plans: "The old Dunnes Stores, as people would have known it, on Austin Friars Street, and it was Eason for a period, we've managed to buy that building, and we hope now to develop that.
"We have it a couple of years now, but when Covid kicked in, there was no point in starting to make plans for it, but now that Covid has, hopefully passed, we went for a pre-planning meeting, and the council were very happy to hear our plans to develop a further 50 bedrooms for the hotel, with some leisure on the ground floor.
"So that would bring a huge footfall to Mullingar, along with to the hotel, and would be a help to all businesses."
